I really loved this book. An enthralling read where you can really feel for the characters; the emotional turmoil of coping with their feelings for each other while dealing with the psychological pressures and strain of their job. The really crass shift in Ty's and Zane's behaviour has been criticised in other reviews below, but for me this just added to the richness of the characters. You can go from one extreme to the other in behaviour when trying to fight an addiction or coping with a trauma, this is perfectly natural. It just made Ty and Zane all the more real for me.

The only thing that stopped me from giving it five stars was the narrative. The dialogues between Ty and Zane, although amusing, always ended with a "snort" or " lip lick." All the snorting and lip-licking began to irritate me a little like someone with an annoying habit.

Anyone expecting a rip-roaring crime story could be disappointed. The crime story is well written, full of suspense and action when needed. However, the main focus always remains on the developing relationship between Ty and Zane, which is fine be me :-) That had more than enough suspense and action for one book - lol!

The book has earnt a place on my favourites shelf and I will definitely look forward to the other cases from Ty and Zane.
