This short story was seriously sweet and cute. It also had me laughing in many places with that very subtle humour that I've learned to love from J. L. Merrow. I loved the main character Al, in his very "simple" ways and thoughts I found his character quite endearing and enlightening. I really loved the use of language from the author to bring across the uneducated chav, again all accents ringing clear in my ears.
I really would have loved to heard a few thoughts from Larry's POV, but I guess that would have disturbed the continuity of the story with too many POV shifts. After all it was like listening to Al telling his story from he comfort of sitting on your sofa.
